Embroidery Designs
Designs for embroidery motifs came from a variety of sources, including engravings and naturalist book illustrations, which depicted flowers, fruits, herbs, birds, animals, insects, and fish. These same motifs were used by goldsmiths, silversmiths, furniture designers, and weavers. Traces of the drawn or stenciled pattern designs can still be seen beneath the wool threads. |
