"3 Days of Peace & Music"
In response to protests from the local townspeople, the Woodstock rock festival was actually held in neighboring Bethel, NY, on August 15-17, 1969. The festival attracted about 400,000 young rock-music devotees and marked what is considered the high point of the American youth counterculture of the 1960s.
