Building Survey
1800s

Bag Mill, Lewiston, Maine
This 19th-century survey shows information about a mill built on the banks of the Androscoggin River in southwestern Maine. Such surveys aided insurance companies in assessing the risks of covering particular industrial buildings. Today these surveys provide a valuable record of detailed floor plans and building drawings for a wide range of industrial and commercial buildings.
