This hand-colored lithograph drawn by English-born artist Frances F. Palmer was published by the New York firm of Currier & Ives in 1866. The firm produced a wide range of affordable prints for more than 50 years. Typical subjects included political and sporting events, animals, children, ships, humorous topics, landscapes, portraits, and still lifes. Framed Currier & Ives prints adorned the walls of homes and offices across the United States.
