The Underwood & Underwood Collection of the 1920s and 30s
Like this print from a glass plate negative of Chicago workers unloading a Beich's Candy truck, many of the images made by the New York City firm of Underwood & Underwood depicted everyday life and everyday people in America's two largest cities. Other subjects included public celebrities, sports figures, and prominent politicians. The company made photographs for syndication in the nation's newspapers.
