Daguerreotype of an insect
New York University professor John W. Draper's experiments with early photographic processes such as the daguerreotype led to successful scientific images. This Draper photomicrograph shows an insect head. His pioneering work in harnessing photography to science won Draper a distinguished place in photographic history.
